Installing mSideShow

Installation on the Nokia Tablet

There are several options for installing mSideShow. Each is detailed below.

From the extras-devel repository

mSideShow is available for installation from the extras-devel repository via the Application Manager. For details on how to add the extras-devel repository, see this Maemo wiki page.

Manual Installation

You can download the mSideShow application from the Maemo Garage Project page. Once downloaded and copied to your device, it can be installed by entering the following command from within xterm:

dpkg -i <msideshow_file>

Using a .install file

If you are viewing this page on the device you want to install mSideShow to, simply click the link below:

A link will be provided once mSideShow has been promoted to the extras repository.

Configuring the Application

Bluetooth communications

Your Windows PC and Nokia Tablet need to be paired by Bluetooth. If you haven't already done this, do it now before continuing.

Start the mSideShow application on your Nokia Tablet. By default, it's startup icon can be found in the Extras menu.

Follow the steps below, according to your PC operating system.

Windows Vista

Windows Seven

Open the Control Panel and double click the Bluetooth Devices icon.
Instructions for configuring Windows Seven will be added soon.
Right click your Nokia device and choose properties.
 
In the Services tab, check the SideShow service.
 
Windows Vista should now detect a SideShow device and install the SideShow Universal driver. Your SideShow device should appear in the device manager.
 
You can now open the Windows SideShow icon in your Control Panel.
 
Select which gadgets you wish to appear in the mSideShow application.
